Connecting the church with its wider community
Overview
First Lutheran Church needed a welcoming digital presence that could introduce the congregation to new people, strengthen community relationships, and make a first visit feel easier.
The Challenge
Most prospective visitors encounter a church online before they ever enter the building. The website and social presence needed to answer common questions, communicate the church’s values, and remove the uncertainty that keeps people from attending.
My Contribution
A pre-launch strategy covering website content and visitor journeys, social media and community outreach, event and ministry promotion, newcomer-focused messaging, local search visibility, visit-planning calls to action, and engagement measurement.
The Approach
The strategy presents First Lutheran as an active, welcoming part of the community. Content highlights programs, service opportunities, family activities, seasonal events, and congregation stories. A dedicated Plan Your Visit experience gives newcomers service times, directions, parking, accessibility details, children’s programming, livestream options, and what to expect on arrival.
Success Measures
Visit planning
Plan Your Visit traffic and direction, phone, and email clicks.
Community reach
Social reach, engagement, and livestream views.
Newcomer interest

Congregational growth

Key Takeaway
Congregational growth begins by reducing the uncertainty of a first visit. A welcoming website, authentic storytelling, and visible community involvement help people see where they belong before they walk through the door. These are strategic goals; performance will be measured after launch.
